Whilst out bird watching this morning off Caswell Drive on Black Mountain I happened to come across a Crimson rosella/Eastern rosella hybrid.  The bird was the size of a Crimson rosella with characteristic Eastern rosella plumage though all feathers had a crimson wash through them.  The white cheek patch was a noticeable light purple.  The bird was paired to a Crimson rosella and I took it to be a female as she was actively hollow inspecting.  I have been surveying this area for the past four years and this is the first time I have seen the bird.
