A couple of weeks ago we had several dead rats in the garden - apparently
poisoned (not by us, and we do cover our compost). One I had seen first in a
currawong's beak as it perched on a low branch, and it was then dropped when
I disturbed the bird. That carcass showed no signs of external injury, so I
assumed it had been poisoned and picked up by the currawong - not that the
bird had caught a fit and well rodent. I wonder if the currawongs or their
offspring are affected by the rat poison ... ?
