In turn, Marnix’s duck counts and ‘data
note’s prompt me to question why the Blue-billed Duck is still ‘officially’
a “rare vagrant in the ACT”? This species has been regular/resident
(?possibly breeding) at the Fyshwick SP for quite a few years now –
hardly a rare vagrant!

[canberrabirds] Rose Robin & Jerra ducks
|
Classification
|
|
|
Not a great photo, but I saw this male Rose Robin
in ANBG on Sunday, 30
July, up at the top end of the gardens, near the
gate through to Black
Mountain and Telstra Tower.
Unfortunately, still no Pink Robin, or Scarlet
or Crescent Honeyeaters for that matter!
On a visit to the FSP on Saturday, 29 July, I
counted 122 Pink-eared Ducks,
so numbers of this species appear to be
increasing. Most others were down
though - no more than 60 Hardhead, 20-30 Shoveler,
less than 20 Grey Teal,
no Chestnut Teal, 6 Blue-bills (4 male), no
Freckles.
1 pale morph Little Eagle and a Brown Goshawk.
Regards
Frank
