The current print edition of The New Yorker has a
very interesting article entitled Ruffled Feathers. It details an
investigation into the activities of one Richard Meinertzhagen in stealing bird
skins and putting them about academia as ones he had collected from the
wild (rather than other people's and institutions collections from which he
actually had got them).
I have no idea why they haven't got this one in
their electronic site. Well worth a visit to a library to read this
(although it is like all New Yorker articles several pages long).
