Pale Male and Lola are early indicators of Spring, after a very poor imitation of Winter in New York. 

Another indicator of warmer weather about to start - perhaps more redolent of McComas Taylor's first blowfly - was the sighting of the first navels of the year on the sidewalks of 5th Avenue yesterday evening.
