I saw a mixed flock of red browed and D-B finches last Wednesday on the bike ramp that leads up to Ginninderra Drive near the new aged care facility but the other side of Ginninderra Drive.  That is often a good spot for small birds.

Another interesting sight in that area has been up to 10 white faced herons perched together on the fence over water that divides Lake Ginninderra from the naval radio facility.  Usually there are only solitary WF herons about.

I saw a D-b finch a couple of weeks ago on the bike path where the construction site for the aged care facility is on the Eastern side of Lake Ginninderra.  First I had seen or heard there.

where were they?

They have been on Lake Ginninderra penninsula (ie Diddams Close Park) for at least the last couple of years. From the spot where the cormorants preen (ie SW Diddams park), just up the hill there are a bunch of small shrubs where they often were.

But I only have seen a maximum of 6, so they may have bred.

Saw a small flock of around 10-12 of D-b Finches on Lake Ginninderra yesterday. Not something I normally see around the lake. Maybe they've had a particularly good breeding year?

I just saw a Double-barred Finch at my work near the rear entrance. This is the first finch in the 6 years I have been keeping an eye on the birdlife in Parkes.
The closest suitable habitat would probably be at Stirling Park.
