Coot breeding

In addition to the broods Roger reports, there are two newer broods on Pond 1 (off Archdall St) at present, one of two and one of three young. Coot numbers on these ponds have been increasing in recent years and they certainly bred in 2004 also.

One pair had an initial 5 which after 6 weeks is still 5.
A second pair had five of which only one survived and is now two weeks old.
