After being ushered across the Tharwa Bridge, not
knowing I would be
the last, I arrived at Gigerline at 9.00 am to
wait for the Kambah carpool.
First sighting was a Black-shouldered Kite, then a
Nankeen Kestrel,
followed by a Little Eagle flying over, which
landed directly opposite
the carpark and stayed for the hour I was there. A
Brown Goshawk then
flew off and a White-bellied Sea-eagle flew past
upstream and perched
100 m from the carpark where it remained. 5 raptors
- it's only 9.10 am.
It's 9.30 am - where are they?
Still in the carpark. Lots of birds including Dusky
Woodswallows and
Black-fronted Dotterells. Only counted 8
Yellow-faced Honeyeaters
moving upstream.
It's 10.00 am - looks like no one else is coming -
how odd!
Return to bridge - closed - "40 minutes ago mate" -
"engineer arrived
and closed it".
I now have an explanation for the non-attendance
and return home
via Point Hut Crossing.
Odd Obs. ready to submit for 5
raptors.
