Now here's a very current bulletin. 40 mins ago just before 1pm I was about to set off for a little scout around when my wife, not an habitual bird observer, said 'There's a pretty bird' and just outside the window on a silver birch in the backyard was a dark-phase wbcs. A minute later when I was trying to get a camera on it in a cypress she said 'there's another one' and sure enough there was a pair of them in close company. I've not seen 2 in Canberra before. Seem to have moved on now, but when I had one in the neighbourhood a few years ago it hung around for a few days, in backyards and in street trees.
