I agree sparrows have declined in Ainslie in the 1990s, at the same time Indian Mynahs have arrived. However I suspect it might have something to do with the 'gentrification' of the Inner North: there are few chooks, ducks, horses, sheep and even goats that once graced and grazed the backyards of Ainslie and provided a source of food, roosts and nest sites.
