Steve Holliday and I had a pleasant walk around Cuumbeun Nature Reserve (near Queanbeyan, cnr Kings Hwy and Captains Flat Rd) this morning (18/2/05).

Observing 42 species in all in about 4 hrs, there were some stand-out highlights, including a Brown Treecreeper, several Speckled Warblers and a pair of Spotted Quail-Thrush. Other notables included Fan-tailed Cuckoo, Shining and Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoos, Scarlet and Eastern Yellow Robins, heard 2 Australian Owlet-Nightjars, many White-throated Treecreepers and large numbers of both Pardalotes.

No sign of the 2 juvenile Southern Boobooks that I've seen on 2 recent visits (photos on the Photo Gallery).
