Hi Tom (et al.)
We walked the Bungendore side, starting at the gate
almost opposite the Weetalabah turnoff. We walked up this track and right
through to where it came out on Captain's Flat Rd (several Kms), then walked
back cross-country eventually ending up near an area where builders' waste has
been dumped alongside Kings Hwy (but outside the Reserve), as mentioned by
Geoffrey Dabb a week or so back, then back uphill to where we started, with a
small detour down a side-track where we saw the Brown Treecreeper and Spotted
Quail-Thrush. The veg inside is really good - lots of large Red Box, Apple Box,
Red Stringybarks, Scribbly Gums - with many hollows, and good understorey and
eucalypt/acacia regrowth. There is a gorge (of sorts) that runs through the
middle, with some pools here and there.
