Subject: | Common Sandpiper still at Uriarra |

Hi all,
I went out to Uriarra Crossing briefly this morning before work
to see if the Common Sandpiper is still there - it is. I had excellent
views of it through the scope, from both banks of the river and in
good sunlight. I'm still keen to get a better idea than we currently
have on when this bird departs. Last year I think the latest record of
it was in late January, so today's sighting already extends that time.
I suspect it may well be around until well into March so if anyone
else is also interested in keeping tabs on this bird I'd be glad to
hear of any reports. I'll be writing up a brief report for Canberra
Bird Notes later.
Harvey
