Powerful Owl
5k's N Axedale
9.20pm 2 Powerful Owls calling along different sections of the Campaspe River. One call was very deep the other slightly higher.....male & female? This is the first time I have heard them around this area, but a Powerful Owl has been heard before along Axe Creek which runs into the Campaspe River.

Oriental Pratincole: One seen well on Austin Road about 300m from Point Wilson Road. Observed and photographed for about an hour.
A possible second bird seen around 3:50pm circling over Point Wilson Road before alighting in paddock on north side - it was clearly a larger fork-tailed bird (larger than the swallows flying with it).

Breamlea
Double-banded Plover (80) roosting on beach at mouth of Thomson Creek opposite Pt Impossible, several of which attaining breeding plumage. Also two adult Hooded Plover on beach and around 350 Little Black Cormorants fishing in shallows just offshore.

Whilst having lunch beside the track the soft clicking of a Pink Robin was heard. A few minutes later a Pink Robin, brown bird, was seen.

Shy Albatross, fluttering Shearwater and possible Wandering Albatross
Bells Beach
Rough seas brought several pelagic birds close to shore today. I saw an albatross flying south that had predominantly white wings above and below that excited my interest. Many shearwaters but also flocks of birds that looked more like the common diving petrel. I will submit photos to persons better able to judge. Also noted Shy Albatrss very close to shore at. t. danger, Torquay
