Shining Bronze-Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx lucidus) (2)
Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx basalis) (7)
Painted Button-quail (Turnix varius) (2)
Followed an unusual call and came across a quite confiding Shining
Bronze-Cuckoo! It was calling constantly and I could hear another in the park
as well! Also, Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo's were everywhere in the park and for
the second time in three weeks I got brief but good views of a pair of Painted
Button-Quails (last time was at Altona just up the road!) before they flushed.
Both the Horsfields Bronze-Cuckoos and the Painted Button-Quails seem to
enjoying a good season here in the southern end of the Barossa Valley at the
moment!
