Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) (1) Sugars Beach, Hindmarsh 
Island-standing on rocky at back of beach, near Murray Mouth.

Eastern Curlew (Numenius madagascariensis) (2) edge of samphire at back of 
Sugars Beach, Hindmarsh Island, near Murray Mouth

Buff-banded Rail (Gallirallus philippensis) (3) one at Swan Reach river bank 
reeds; one at Wellington river bank feeding on dead bony bream; one in coastal 
shrubs near Sugars Beach, Hindmarsh Island, near Murray Mouth

Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) (1) Sugars Beach, Hindmarsh Island, near Murray 
Mouth.

Brown Quail (Coturnix ypsilophora) (15) Coveys of 8 and 7 in rank grassland in 
Tolderol Game Reserve

Great Egret (Casmerodius albus) (11) wetland in samphire next to Sugars Beach, 
Hindmarsh Island, near Murray Mouth

Redthroat (Pyrrholaemus brunneus) (3) Saint Mary's Peak, Wilpena Pound, 
Flinders Ranges NP

Black-eared Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx osculans) (1) Wilpena Pound, Flinders Ranges NP

Elegant Parrot (Neophema elegans) (6) 50+ Neophema parrots flushed from 
samphire in Tolderol Game Reserve-six of which were positively identified as 
Elegant Parrots.

Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) (1) River Red Gums at Walker's Flat, 
River Murray

Location: Birdsville track - northern section

Black Falcon (Falco subniger) (1) 1

Flock Bronzewing (Phaps histrionica) (100) 

Gibberbird (Ashbyia lovensis) (4) 

Yellow Chat (Epthianura crocea) (6) At a bore drain wetland. For the 
'introduced' birders among us, their call is reminiscent of Great Tit (Parus 
major)...!

Banded Whiteface (Aphelocephala nigricincta) (10) New record in terms of 
numbers: 9 together and a single bird within a kilometre of the main group.

Grey Grasswren (Amytornis barbatus) (6) 

Eyrean Grasswren (Amytornis goyderi) (2)

Location: Altona Landcare Reserve

Painted Button-quail (Turnix varius) (2) Pair seen well at close range on edge 
of road next to carparking area! They were scuttling along the edge of the 
thick grass against the road bank for about 10m before diving into the grass.

Diamond Firetail (Stagonopleura guttata) (8) 6 were feeding in the carpark 
almost under my car! when I got back from a walk around the reserve, where 2 
were also found near the Blue track.

Crested Shrike-tit (Falcunculus frontatus) (2) In the middle of the reserve 
next to the Orange Track.

Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx basalis) (3) One near the entrance 
gate, one near the Yellow track and one in paddock next to blue track.

Red-browed Finch (Neochmia temporalis) (32) Large flock feeding in (ex fire) 
regrowth area near Blue track, the other two Diamond Firetails were loosely 
associating with these Red-brows.

Location: Bird Hide Barrage Rd Goolwa

Latham's Snipe (Gallinago hardwickii) (1) Bird was on the far right hand side 
of swamp from bird hide. It was unusual to see the bird out in the open. A walk 
round the road gets you a better look.

Wood Sandpiper (Tringa glareola) (1) Single bird was in the same area as the 
Snipe,feeding on the swamp margin. I observed 20 species in a 20 min. stop.
