They are also present everyday outside my front door in Gloucester,
inland Mid North Coast.
However this is the third time in the last 18 months that the SMH has disastrously got the identification of a bird wrong. Haven't they got anyone on their staff who at least knows a Red Wattlebird from an Eastern Bristlebird ???? I saw a number of Eastern Bristlebirds this morning on my run through Pyrmont, Darling Harbour & Glebe, if I use this morning's Sydney Morning Herald as a field guide: http://www.smh.com.au/environment/conservation/world-rally-leg-threatens-nsw-species-20090806-ebju.html I'm sure they didn't consult Stephen Ambrose when choosing photos!
