The coastal rainforest at Iluka would have been separated from the Big Scrub
and it's unlikely (but possible) that Log Runners were ever there. From what
little original vegetation remains, it looked to me like the sub tropical
rainforest that used to cover large parts of the region didn't extend closer to
the coast than Maclean, with a big gap of drier forest for species to cross to
get to the rainforest at Iluka. As it happens, I lived in Maclean for three
years.
Thanks for the suggestion about the Treecreeper. I'm familiar with one of its
calls, which is similar to the Fan Tailed Cuckoo. But I can see I'll have to
go back to the coast and investigate further.

If is an isolated population near Batemans Bay, it's probably highly
threatened. The whole area is rapidly being sold off and developed, and all
the forest cut down. Even if it was not a Logrunner, the clearing will be
threatening many of the species in the area.
