I always recommend trying binoculars rather than going for a particular
spec, get a pair you are comfortable using, I've got a set of 10x42
Leicas, I quite like them , but the only way to find out if they are
good for you is to go to a shop that stocks them and try them out, what
suits one person may or may not suit you. The 10x will have a smaller
field of view, be slightly dimmer, but hard to notice and may or may not
weigh more, depending on which brand you buy.

It will give you some guidance, but you really need to try them out to
see how they feel in the hand and how easy they are to use. A lot of
people swear by the 8-10x32 as lighter more compact and in the top line
models are reported to be very hard to seperarte on brightness from
their bigger cousins.
