Yes but look at the distribution maps of the Rufous Owl. A long way of totally 
inappropriate habitat from there to South West Australia. Very different 
situation from a Barking Owl in suburban Sydney, during a drought year.  Let's 
wait till the evidence comes through, but my vote is with Brown Goshawk for the 
reasons I gave before (and not that it would be odd for any Ninox Owl to be 
eating a bird). I wouldn't be surprised at someone mistaking a Goshawk for an 
owl. Lots of people think Frogmouths are owls.
