Hi Michael,

I wasn't really making a comment on invasiveness of Corymbia ficifolia, just
the general attitude that it's ok to plant it anywhere you like because it's
native to Australia.  It probably isn't that invasive, but what if it were?
It'd be too late now, there's too many being planted.  You'd have a wave of
seed germination happening in native bushland and it would displace native
trees that support smaller birds.  You could have a total change in the
composition of the local bushland around cities as a result.

The problem here isn't one particular species, it's the attitude.  And one
day someone will introduce the vegetation equivalent of the Cane Toad, Cat,
Rabbit, Fox, or Mosquito Fish without even thinking about it.  See the
