Don't fall into the trap of thinking Australian natives can't be invasive in
this country. Cadaghi (Eucalyptus or Corymbia torelliana) is an
environmental weed in Brisbane after being a brought down from North
Queensland as a street tree for many years. Another name for it is
Widowmaker, given because of the large branches that fall without warning
that would kill someone camping under the tree (or cause horrible damage to
your car if you were parked under it).

A weed is a plant out of place. If you plant a Western Australian
Red-flowering Gum in your backyard on the east coast it's a weed, and a
potentially invasive one. Some plants have a higher capacity for
invasiveness, or for damage, but in some cases I think Australian natives
moved around have a higher potential for invasiveness because they are
already used to the Australian climate. Local natives all the way - they're
better for the habitat and better for the animals.
