I believe one problem in discussing them with bush people is that
Bourke Parrots are often mis-named 'Night Parrot', because though
diurnal they come to water when it's very late in the evening and almost
dark.
Pizzey gives "Night Parrot" as one of the other names for Bourke's
Parrot, which just adds to the confusion in the minds of inexperienced
observers.
As for Bourke's Parrots, they are diurnal but can be very active at
night as well. I know several people who keep them in aviaries and they
a very active and noisy at all hours of the night.
Again, Pizzey says of the Bourke's Parrots: "At dusk, dawn, and in total
darkness, flocks fly fast through scrub to water."
All rather confusing really.
