Hi Andrew,

You are right of course that the migratory populations of the Osprey occur and breed at higher latitudes but they do migrate to the tropics in the winter. I tend to think of the Australasian sub-species (or species) as being tropical or subtropical but even it occurs in temperate areas in Western Australia and South Australia.

The distribution of Australian Ospreys is indeed enigmatic.
