Dear all

This is emailed with a large question mark - my neighbour who is a good bird identifier and has brilliant eyes, says that last week (and he forgot to tell me at the time for which I could wring his neck) he saw between 150 and 200 Plumed Whistling-ducks on the large dam wall on his property at Craven, 32 00812 - 151 5440; 16km south of Gloucester, along with some Wood duck. I questioned him but he is quite sure - says he's seen them in N.Qld and N.T. And he checked it in his field guide afterwards but still forgot to tell me.

Couild any birders in the area please keep an eye open for large flocks of either Plumed or Wandering Whistling-ducks. This I feel needs confirmation.

Alan - have such large numbers been seen lately in the Lower Hunter area????
