Dear all
If anyone is interested, below is a selection that I collected some years ago for publication somewhere or other and never used. It might be of interest to historian amongst the birding enthusiasts!
A dissimulation of birds             A pack of grouse
A clutch of eggs                         A fall of woodcocks
A pair of kiwis                             A deceit of lapwings
A mustering of storks                 A congregation of plovers
A rafter of turkeys                     A walk of snipe
An ostentation of peacocks         A flock of pigeons
A peep of chickens                     A flight of doves
A brood of hens                         A duel of doves
A string of ducks                     A crackle of cockatoos
A Donald of ducks (seriously ?)         A parliament of owls
A paddling of ducks                     A flight of swallows
A team of ducks                         A watch of nightingales
A sorde of mallards  _Olde Englishe     A tiding of magpies
A flushe of mallards        "             An unkindness of ravens
A spring of teal                             A murder of crows
A gaggle of geese (on water)         A building of rooks
A flock of geese (standing)         A host of sparrows
A skein of geese (in the air)         A charm of goldfinches
A siege of herons                         A cast of hawks

A covey of grouse (single family)     A murmuration of starlings
A bouquet of pheasants

When in doubt, a Mob, a Big Mob, a Biggest Mob or a Bulk Biggest Mob (Queensland colloq.) will cover any other grouping, whether bird or animal - or human for that matter!
