Ospreys have interesting distribution but not what I'd call tropical.
They breed across a big swathe of the palearctic almost to the arctic
circle - e.g scandinavia is a stronghold and I've seen plenty in migration
from canada. They certainly also breed in various parts of the tropics
(middle east, central america, australasia) but are only non-breeding
visitors to much of the tropics. It is interesting that they are only
visitors to south america and almost all of sub-saharan africa but breed
around a good bit of the Australian coast.
