In addition to the very good info given by others, a couple of points:
* The green birds are not necessarily females. Males also have this
green plumage until they reach 7 years of age. Most of the field
guides are misleading with regard to this.
* Clearing blackberry is unlikely to directly affect a bowerbird nest
as they generally nest higher in a tree. However, clearing blackberry
may have an impact on their food supply, or the nesting of other,
smaller birds such as Superb Fairy-wrens. Spring-summer is the main
season when nesting birds will be an issue. Clear a little at a time,
and most importantly, replace it with native shrubs as much as
possible. And avoid spraying, especially when there is fruit on the
bushes.
