Hi All,

Yesterday i was down at Point Henry (a sandspit jutting out into the Corio Bay/Port Philip Bay near Geelong Victoria).

On the shoreline was a very unusual White Faced Heron that had vividly red legs.

Normally, White Faced Herons have greenish/greyish/yellowish legs,  so the red legs on this bird made it look very different.

Is anyone able to say whether this abberation has been noted before? Anyone have any ideas on what could have caused this phenomena?

I have photos if anyone would like to see the bird. Please contact me.
