It not closer, but I spent the weekend at the Pearl Beach - for
non-Sydney-siders its acroos the Hawkesbury from Sydney. The calls of
Glossy-Blacks greeted me as I unloaded the car Friday evening. Saw and
heard 3+ in the streets of Pearl Beach over the weekend. There looks to
be good Glossy-Black habitat in this area so they may well be a common
sight there.

The Boobooks calling after dusk were a pleasant change from the
inner-city. Even better was being woken just before dawn by a Powerful
Owl. Sounded close so it must have been in Pearl Beach itself.
