g'day all,
Michael Norris immediately identified the bird as a Barbary Dove.
(also called Collared Eurasian or Ringed Turtle Dove)
Michael provided this URL that describes the bird
I forgot I had the Australian Birdkeeper's "a guide to Pigeons, Doves & Quail" p 120 - 125 which provides a good description of the bird.
This book mentions that they are known to hybridise with other Streptopelia and Rock Doves
Regards, Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
