Hi All,
Just a quick plea for all those mad twitchathoners who are
descending on Werribee in the coming month, please look out for
banded Brown Falcons. At present more then 90% of the breeding
population (39 pairs) are banded on the farm, yet I have been
completely underwhelmed with only 4 resightings in the last 15
months, not a very good birder/resighting ratio!
Please can you keep a look out when on the Treatment Plant or
indeed in the general Werribee area.
For each resighting I would like details on the colours on each leg
(and which was on top) as well as where the bird was seen in the
farm (I can send a map if you don't have one). Adults have two
colours on their left leg and one over a metal service band on the
right. Chicks from last year have only one colour on the left leg and
the metal service on the right.
I also know of quite a few daytime Barn Owl roosts throught the
farm, if teams are desperate on the Sunday for another night bird
perhaps I can trade for resightings.....
