Hi Maris,
I would not necessarily travel to Chiltern - especially this late in the season. You might have a more productive time circling Melbourne (counter clockwise) from Bendigo, Melton, Brisbane Ranges, You Yangs, Werribee, Torquay, Bunyip NP, Dandenongs, Healsville area. You'd end up with a wide range of habitats and species mostly within about 90 minutes of Melbourne. What are you after and I could perhaps refine my suggestion.
