The bird is most likely defending it's nesting territory, at temporary
inconvenience to your friend, and they're talking about having it killed?
And you say the butcherbird is being vindictive.
Tell your friend to get a grip.

Thank you all for enlightening me on the aggressive behaviour of Butcherbirds.
It was an attribute I previously only afforded to Magpies.
I have passed on Janine?s advice to my friend and if he succeeds in making a
friend of the bird before the authorities euthanise it I will advise at a later
date.
