Baxter). Extremely rare visitor to KI.
Rufous Whistler (Pachycephala rufiventris) (1) Rocky Point/Browns Beach mallee,
Dudley Peninsula, N coast of Kangaroo Island, 26 September 2015; same locality
where a male and female were reported April 2000 (Hugh Rischbeith per Chris
Baxter). Extremely rare visitor to KI.
Hooded Plover (Thinornis rubricollis) (10) pair with one week old runners,
Stokes Bay Beach, N coast of Kangaroo Island, 6 October 2015
pair with day/s old runners, Harriet River Mouth, Vivonne Bay, S coast of
Kangaroo Island, 12 October 2015
Northern Giant-Petrel (Macronectes halli) (1) listed here as NGP, however,
identification to species remains unknown due to it being an all dark coloured
immature; seen flying close inshore, caught amongst 1,000s of westward
migrating Short-tailed Shearwaters, Cape du Couedic, Kangaroo Island, 12
October 2015.
Buff-banded Rail (Gallirallus philippensis) (2) foraging in mud and shallows
along a small samphire-lined tidal channel, American River foreshore, Kangaroo
Island, 4 October 2015; also seen here, a single Australian Spotted Crake.
Bush Stone-curlew (Burhinus grallarius) (12) three pair, each with 2 x recently
hatched young, farmland mosaic (mallee/pasture) surrounding Bay of Shoals and W
to Emu Bay, late September/early October 2015.
Western Whipbird (Psophodes nigrogularis) (7+) 3 breeding pairs in S coast
mallee; one pair at Bales Bay; one pair at Vivonne Bay; one pair at Remarkable
Rocks, Flinders Chase NP, late September/early October 2015; pair at Vivonne
Bay observed carrying food to nestling young.
one scurried across South Coast Road in front of approaching vehicle, c 4 km E
of Stunsail Boom River, Kangaroo Island, 28 September 2015.
Banded Stilt (Cladorhynchus leucocephalus) (3000+) feeding and roosting at
Wisanger Lagoon (saline wetland), inland from W shore of Bay of Shoals,
Kangaroo Island, September/early October 2015.
Whiskered Tern (Chlidonias hybrida) (100+) very vocal as foraged (hawked) over
shallows associated with Timber Creek delta at E end of Murrays Lagoon,
Kangaroo Island, 13 October 2015; large concentration in small area.
Yellow-billed Spoonbill (Platalea flavipes) (3) one of the three adults was
collecting sticks and constructing a nest in a River Red Gum, Duck Lagoon,
lower Cygnet River, Kangaroo Island, 13 October 2015.

Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx basalis) (1) This is to advise that I
have been informed by 3 of the 54 viewers that the photos of a Shining
Bronze-Cuckoo posted yesterday are in fact photos of a Horsefield's
Bronze-Cuckoo. After some research, I agree. Sorry for the incorrect
identification.
