Birdline North Queensland
Published sightings for the week ending 7 Dec 2014.
Fri 5 Dec Pacific Golden Plover Hasties Swamp National Park
Single bird foraging with small flock of Sharp-tailed Sandpiper;
distinctive stance, head shape, beak, markings on wings and head and
colour and size. Sighting was on northwestern bank of lake and the bird
stayed there for the full hour of observation (from 7.10 am until 8.10
am). This species has been recorded only once before at this site, by
Keith and Lindsay Fisher in October 1995. Good views in scope from
eastern bank.

Tue 2 Dec Australian Brush-turkey (Cape York race 'purpureicollis') Mt
Lewis, FNQ
A single adult bird of Cape York race seen very well & closely with
photographic evidence seen not too far from the top clearing - it had a
pure purple/white collar with absolutely no hint of yellow on it. This
I believe represents the most southerly record of this race by a fair
distance.

Yellow Wagtail Mungalla Station--Forrest Beach, Queensland
Three Yellow Wagtails seen today (and two days ago) along sides of Palm
Creek. Seldom staying long anywhere but never far from water, Pix.
Earlier pix on blog.
