   Published sightings for the week ending 17 Aug 2014.

   Sun 17 Aug White-cheeked honeyeater german church rd, redland bay.
   (native dog creek)
   Plenty of birds feeding on coastal banksia

   Swift Parrot Gould Adams Park, Kingston
   At least 3 birds seen feeding high up in blossoming gums. Calls of more
   nearby also heard. Black Kite also observed flying over.

   Sat 16 Aug Hutton's Shearwaters Offshore--Southport pelagic
   100s of Hutton's inshore today along with small numbers of Fluttering
   Shearwaters. Also good numbers of Wedge-tailed Shearwaters back.

   Providence Petrel Offshore--Southport pelagic
   Large numbers today well inshore (inside the continental shelf break)
   and also off the shelf.

   At least 6 birds today.

   Only one bird today. A dark intermediate.

   1 adult bird today. The bird had a pale eye so was sub sp. personata

   After our first ever August record last week, at least another 5 today,

   2 immature birds today. This first live birds this year.

   Just one bird today along with large numbers of Wilson's Storm-Petrels

   1 bird today. The first for 2 years.

   Light-mantled Sooty Albatross Offshore--Southport pelagic
   One bird (3rd Year?) on the way in came into the boat and sat right
   behind us! The second Southport record and the first since June 2012.

   1 bird at the 45 fathom line. The first record since June 2012

   Fri 15 Aug Brolga Henry Road, Griffin
   In the first paddock on the left turning in from Dohles Rocks Road. Saw
   them mid morning and again early afternoon

   White-winged Triller Sandy Camp Rd Wetlands
   An Eclipse Male was reported a couple of weeks ago, believe this is
   probably the same bird. Photographed on the peninsular between 2nd and
   3rd lagoons.

   Thu 14 Aug Rose Robin Mackenzie River, downstream of Bedford Weir
   Single immature in tree alongside river - unexpected, but just within
   range - esp. as it's still winter.

   Wed 13 Aug King Quail, Peregrine Falcon Golds Scrub Lane, Samsonvale
   One male-female pair of King Quail in the margins of the woodland by
   the cemetery, near the paddock gate. Birds were foraging in the tall
   grass, only briefly wandering into view; an attempt to stake them out
   for 5-10 mins was unsuccessful. Also seen was a Peregrine Falcon,
   flying high at first, then making a low pass over the cemetery. Also
   notable, a resident pair of Whistling Kites are nesting in the crown of
   a pine tree on the water's edge, to the left of the cemetery. All
   sightings made around 11:30am.

   male and female bird observed on pond initially mid July and resident
   in pond as still seen on pond

   Tue 12 Aug Red-browed Treecreeper Lamington National Park--Binna Burra
   Red-browed Treecreepers in the tall gums near the beginning of the Park
   trails.

   Latham's Snipe Sandgate--Dowse Lagoon
   A single bird late this afternoon, first of the season for me at Dowse.

   Topknot Pigeon Darlington Range, Wongawallen
   Thousands of birds flying over in waves in flocks ranging from 20 to
   300 birds. All flying from South to North.

   Mon 11 Aug Dusky Woodswallow Binna Burra Road, Beechmont
   Ten birds were feeding about one kilometre south of the roundabout at
   Beechmont. Sightings of Dusky Woodswallows in this area are rare.

   4 birds in the company of a single Galah flew overhead calling.
   Countryside inland is very dry.

   Sat 9 Aug Great-winged Petrel Offshore--Southport pelagic
   1 bird initially thought to be a nominate macoptera is now considered
   to probably be a gouldi.

   Hutton's Shearwaters Offshore--Southport Sea Mounts Pelagic
   Good numbers of Hutton's Shearwaters (40+) today, as well as a
   Fluttering and many Wedge-taileds. Also good numbers of Providence
   Petrels, a few Great-winged Petrels (gouldi), 1 Black-bellied and many
   Wilson's Storm-Petrels, Aus Gannets and good numbers of Common Noddy.
