Published sightings for the week ending 23 Feb 2014.

Sun 23 Feb Oriental Cuckoo Anstead Bushland Reserve
First sighting in about three weeks. Seen in the north-west section of the reserve.

Sat 22 Feb Franklin's Gull Lake Barambah (Bjelke-Petersen Dam)
The Franklin's Gull seen with scope today preening and resting on far bank opposite boat ramp early afternoon. Later in the evening (almost dark) found again nearer the dam wall . Much closer views.

Buller's Shearwater, Black Noddy Point Lookout, North Stradbroke Island
Highlight of a 5 hour seawatch were at least 1 close in Buller's Shearwater. Also 4 Black Noddys among 100's of Common Noddys, 5 Pom Skuas, 5 Hutton's Shearwaters, a few Short-tailed and loads of Wedge-tailed Shearwaters. A good passage of Terns too with a constant stream of Little and Common Terns during the morning.

Little Grassbird, Plum-headed Finch Postmans Track Section, Lake Samsonvale
A single Little Grassbird seen close to the lake. About 6 Plum-heads flew over on the grassy flats.

Fri 21 Feb Asian Dowitcher Port of Brisbane Wader Roost - Fishermans Island
Seen on a Wader ID Day offered by QWSG. Two Asian Dowitchers were seen in groups of Bar-tailed Godwits.

Wedge-tailed Eagle Latrobe Tce, Paddington
Seen soaring over water tower near intersection with Macgregor Tce at 3.40pm. Same bird reported from Bowman Pde, Bardon on the 9th?

Tue 18 Feb Franklins Gull & White browed babbler Lake Barambah (Bjelke-Petersen Dam)
Franklin gull resting near dam wall at 1pm. Good pics obtained. Will submit when i get home. Also white-browed babbler seen at very close range (2m) in trees in caravan park near water.

Sat 15 Feb Budgerigar Manly Boat Harbour
2 green Budgerigars seen leaving the area and heading south. While most likely escapes, woudl appreciate any other reports from the area, 2 birds together might suggest more than a regular escapee.....

Plumed Whistling-Ducks flying overhead at night (only flight calls heard)
