Sun 27 Oct	Scaly-breasted Lorikeet Gresswell Habitat Link First visit to the habitat link in more than two and a half years. Pleased to see that the Scaly-breasted Lorrikeets are still there. Heard and then saw four of them shortly after entering from Main Drive. Wulan Dirgantoro & Dirk Tomsa
Sun 27 Oct	Speckled Warbler, Rufous Songlark Woodlands Historic Park (Greenvale) Was an absolutely cracking day, weather was overcast but bird activity was unbelievable! Also seen Swamp Wallaby in the back paddock Speckled Warbler (2) At least 2 if not 3 in the same spot i saw them a few months back.... very vocal Rufous Songlark (1) calling loudly west of the geriatric dam, inside the cyclone fenced area, was able to gain access through the hole and was previledged to get great views for at least 15 minutes Philip Peel
Sun 27 Oct	Sanderling Hooded Plover Bancoora Beach There was a pair of Sanderling, at least 6 Hooded Plover and 6 Turnstones on Bancoora Beach this morning as well as a pair of Red-capped Plover and one Red-necked Stint. Jen Spry & Joy Tansey
	Pink Robin Yarra State Forest (Ada Tree) Middle of day stunning male seen well on walking track 60m from the Ada tree. Pilot Bird and Olive Whistler out in the open few hundred metres from Ada tree on the vehicle track leading back to the carpark. Lyrebirds scurried about. Numerous Golden Whistlers and a single Shining Bronze Cuckoo. Rose Robins throughout region. Fiona Parkin
	Olive-backed Oriole Yarran Dheran Reserve Found a calling male bird in the reserve today. The bird I found September last year was believed to be a first record for the reserve, hopefully they might become established here. Mike Honeyman
	Australian Koel Banyule Flats Reserve Highlight of a very successful Breakfast with the Birds, an annual event hosted by Banyule Council and BirdLife Melbourne was an Australian Koel. Sat 26 Oct	Sanderling, Wood Sandpiper Western Treatment Plant Sanderling and Wood Sandpiper seen at Little River mouth and Conservation Pond 35E9 respectively this afternoon. Stacks of Sharp-tailed Sandpiper about this spring with a high number of recent juvenile arrivals & some White-browed Woodswallows are still milling about the Paradise Rd/Pt Wilson Rd area. Sat 26 Oct	White-breasted Woodswallow Cairn Curran Reservoir One seen in flight by a group of F & P photographers on an outing to the area. Not reported on Eremaea in this Block previously. Sonja Ross on behalf of F & P photographers.
	Satin Bowerbird, Scarlet Honeyeater, Black-faced Monarch Bunyip State Park Male Satin Bowerbird at Dyer's Picnic Ground, Scarlet Honeyeater in melaleuca at the Southern entrance to the park and a single, rather coy Black-faced Monarch on Ash Landing Road Tim Bawden, Stuart and Jonathon Dashper
	Budgerigar, Black Honeyeater and Hooded Robin Goschen Bushland Reserve At least six Budgerigars seen in groups of four and two around the old tennis court area. Three female and one male Black Honeyeaters seen between Hall and tower area. Three Male and two female Hooded Robins seen generally around reserve. Lots of other great species including Bee-eaters, White-browed Woodswallows, Masked Woodswallow, Black-faced Woodswallow and Rufous Songlark. Gwen and Michael Bird
	Glossy Ibis Bells Swamp NW of Maldon 6 Glossies at this fantastic wetland, plenty of Herons and other waterbirds feeding in the shallow water. Simon Starr
	Scarlet Honeyeater Wilby Scarlet Honeyeater (1). Heard calling in the backyard and after a little searching saw a beautiful male in a flowering callistemon. Amazing record here, not a species I would have expected to see at home. This is the 163rd species recorded in Wilby. Michael Ramsey
Fri 25 Oct	Scarlet Honeyeater Near Mt. Tenneriffe A pair of Scarlet Honeyeaters seen in the garden at about 4.30pm on private property on the slopes of Mt. Tenneriffe. Val Kneebone per Val La May
	Scarlet Honeyeater Benalla Male Scarlet Honeyeater calling from the top of a Cypress tree at northern edge of town. Pleased to finally see the bird after hearing calls for the past few days. Kathy Costello
	Rufous Whistler Corner of Carlisle St and Mitchell St, St Kilda An adult male Rufous Whistler was hopping around in a street tree at the busy intersection this afternoon. First local whistler for the spring. Gio Fitzpatrick
	Bar-tailed Godwit Mouth of the Barwon River at Ocean Grove. 70 No. resting with a few hundred small waders including Red-necked Stint and Red-capped Plover, 3pm. Birds continuously disturbed by people walking dogs. Tom Fletcher
Thu 24 Oct	Painted Honeyeater Reef Hills State Park A Painted Honeyeater was heard calling, and after a 15 minute search, one bird was seen foraging among leaves in a Grey Box close to Midland Hwy, 300 metres south of Reef Hills Rd (main park entrance). Kathy Costello and Helen Ogilbee
	Azure Kingfisher Ferny Creek Ferntreee Gully adjacent to FTG Library Carpark Single bird, being relentlessly chased and forced to the ground. Surrounded by 8 to 10 Noisy Miners. Darren Wallace
	Short-tailed Shearwater Mouth Of Patterson River, Carrum 2 Birds seen in very rough conditions this morning. Very close to the beach at times about 50mts out, possible third bird. Colin Mulvogue

Wed 23 Oct	Black Honeyeater, Barn Owl, Hooded Robin Goschen Bushland Reserve A visit to the reserve resulted in many bird species. There were hundreds of White Browed Woodswallows and Masked woodswallows. Highlights were Black Honeyeaters approximately 10 in the low bush area near the transmitter tower. Seen just before dusk Hooded robins with young near the tennis courts and a Barn owl on the side of the road driving back to Lake Boga Greg and Janice McKay
	Australian Koel Reservoir A Koel just called at 10:20pm for approx. two minutes near my place in Reservoir. John Gray
	Australian Painted Snipe YVW / Aurora Sewage Treatment Plant Epping North Immature Bird , beside Small pond at the back of the Treatment Plant , Good view of bird , Flew to open paddocks but not located . Brown bird with White markings around shoulder. Colin Mulvogue
	Black-tailed Native-hen Edithvale Wetlands A single bird seen on the small island just opposite the viewing platform on the south side of Edithvale Rd. Sean Dooley
Tue 22 Oct	Great Crested Grebe, Sacred Kingfisher, White-winged Triller Royal Park West (Trin Warren Tam-boore) Quick visit to find the great crested grebe. It was still there, as too was the white-winged triller. Also saw a sacred kingfisher. Richard Arnold

Tue 22 Oct	Black-faced Cormorant Elster Creek, Elwood An immature Black-faced Cormorant (first Elster Creek record) waddled ashore onto Elwood beach this morning. Unfortunately it had a fishing hook, line and swivel stuck under its wing so I took it to the vet. I was also treated to the sight of about 8 Burrunan Dolphins leaping out of the water off shore. Yesterday morning at about 7:00am a Peregrine Falcon flew low over Broadway St chasing Feral Pigeons. A Sacred Kingfisher was seen again next to the creek - this time near St Kilda Street in the Elsternwick Golf Course. Gio Fitzpatrick

	Satin Flycatcher Blackburn Lake One male, busy on east side in titree scrub. Seen & heard well, fairly happy with the gloss, but it was a dull day. Will try for another look. Confirmation would be appreciated. Two Rufous Whistlers, one immature, the other similar plumage (couldn't see bill colour). Trevor Kerr
	Cape Gannet (update) Point Danger, Portland The Cape Gannet arrived about 12:30 pm and landed at rear, far left of colony. It was quickly 'bullied off' and took to the air again, but then landed near the right edge of the group in a clear spot. I watched it for about twenty minutes before it started to rain again and I had to leave to catch a flight. N.B. I believe this bird is not paired yet and is therefore relegated to the periphery of the colony, if searching be aware it is in random places each time. (I have seen it in three positions in two days) David Mitford
	Striated Grasswren, Major Mitchell's Cockatoo, Cockatiel, Murray-Sunset National Park (Pink Lakes) Striated Grasswren, Major Mitchell's Cockatoo and Cockatiel were seen on our first trip to Pink Lakes. David Rower

	Powerful Owl Hethersett Road, Sassafras Heard a powerful owl, tracked it down and it flew in closer, was able to photographs. It was a very warm night and lots of things were out and about, including a Boobook and many arboreal nocturnal marsupials. Jonathon Dashper
	Cockatiel Old Bendigo Rd Derrinal Lake Eppalock 2 Cockatiels male plus female flying from hollow to hollow in dead trees in lake. Chased off each time by Galahs, in area for couple hours before flying west. Caspian terns also seen hawking around lake. Andrew Morley
	Scarlet Honeyeater Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne One male seen at RBGC, along walk from Stringybark Picnic Area to the wetlands, provided the highlight of the Western Port Biosphere Bird Search Big Day - full list of over 100 species to be posted later this week at http://www.biosphere.org.au/birdsearch/index.html Jack Krohn

Wed 16 Oct	Red Knot T section Lagoon Western Treatment Plant Single bird seen (just) weather was appalling. Only wader in the lagoon with hundreds of terns. Greg and Janice McKay
Fri 11 Oct	Fuscous honeyeater - leucistic Wartook State Forest at 37 2'29.10 S 142 19'41.92 E Very light coloured bird - with yellow on wings, around head as per normal. Seemed to be one of a pair - observed in the evening and again at the same location in the morning on the 12th of Oct. Phil Robertson
Thu 10 Oct	Cape Barren Geese Baxter-Tooradin Road about 1km east of the Tyabb-Tooradin turn off 2 flew low over the Tooradin Road just in front of my ute, so low in fact I instinctively ducked as I passed under them. Heading north at approximately midday. Will Ashburner
	Painted Button-quail Mt Waverley backyard The female has been in 2 adjoining backyards for the past 9 days. it is foraging and feeding in the undergrowth and straying onto open lawn and paving and emitting the 'advertising " call on a couple of occasions. This is a first for me as a backyard sighting. Sue Robertson
Tue 1 Oct	Pink-eared Duck, Gull-billed Tern, Red-necked Stint, Sharp-tailed and Curlew Sandpiper Lake Coradgill, Leslie Manor 500+ Pink-eared Duck,1 Gull Billed Tern,Red-necked Stint 100+, Sharp Tailed Sandpiper, 150+ Curlew Sandpiper and large numbers of Coots & Swans. Interestingly enough only 1 Silver Gull on all the lakes. Bob& Jan Hughes
	1 Gull-billed Tern, 600+ Whiskered Terns and 3 Brolgas Elwood Road, Leslie Manor Other species were Blue-winged Shoveler, Chestnut Teal, Grey Teal, Black Duck and Pink-eared Duck. Bob & Jan Hughes
