Sarus Crane
Borroloola
Snipe Lagoon, which is opposite a turn-off 5.7 km se of bridge over Macarthur. A small lagoon with low water levels.
Sarus Crane (2) Seen to about 60 metres. The red on the head clearly extended down the neck. Brolgas are quite common in the area, and had been seen this morning.

Flock Bronzewing, Horsfield's Bushlark, Pictorella Mannikin

Pictorella Mannikins in mobile flocks mainly south of sewage ponds. Flock Bronzewings came in to drink at around 8.30. Singing Bushlark and Brown Songlark in grasslands south of sewage ponds.
Flock Bronzewing (2) Two birds flew in to WTW to drink around 8.30
Horsfield's Bushlark (1) In grassland with scattered trees to south of WTW
Pictorella Mannikin (175) Several very mobile flocks, hard to count accurately. 175 is a conservative estimate.

Chestnut Teal (1) Partial male breeding plumage. Chestnut breast, small white smudge on rear of flank as well as patchy dark green/brown head.

Three over the Macarthur River at the southern boat ramp. Well north of normal range. Good views to about 30 metres.

Gouldian Finch (4) 3 adults 1 juvenile, red-headed adults, no black ones present, photos

Pictorella Mannikin
Borroloola
In the long grasslands to the south and east of the showgrounds. At least 145, probably more, in small to large flocks. Also 400 plus Fairy Martins roosting at the water treatment works, where there were 11 Hoary-headed Grebes and other water birds. Spotted Harrier (adult) flew over.

Alice Springs Waste Stabilisation Ponds
Morning and afternoon visits for epic day of water sampling.
Grey Fantail (1) Seemingly young bird in the thick vegetation along the northern boundary of EP7. First time recorded at this site. Photographed. Freckled Duck (4) All in non-breeding plumage and all in EP7
