Published sightings for the week ending 30 Jun 2013.

Sat 29 Jun Banded Stilt St Helens
Approximately 40 Banded Stilts have been observed in Georges Bay, St Helens as of 23rd June 2013. They were first observed roosting along the water line in the intertidal mudflat of Pelican Point (UTM 55G 610840 E 5427463 S). Latter observations have been in the same bay where they have been seen foraging and roosting. All birds are adults.

White-necked Heron Preservation Island
Two White-necked Heron on the airstrip, they weren't on the island yesterday(28.6.13)

Tue 25 Jun Zebra Finch Calverts Lagoon
Zebra Finch (3) At least 3. Where Horse Trail meets the edge of the open lagoon area. Seemed to be happily feeding amongst the heath-y plants, then flew off to rest in nearby Eucalypts. Unmistakable, have photos. [Moderator's note: the possibility exists that these birds may be aviary escapees.]

Sun 23 Jun Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo Beaumaris
Approximately 180 Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo were observed at Beaumaris along the Tasman Highway (UTM 55G 606641 E 5413885 S) on 23rd June at 3.30pm. A minimum of 150 were observed in flight along the roadside margin with 30 observed on the grassy area near the Surfside Motel. Large flocks have been observed in this area over the past 2 weeks.

Sat 22 Jun White-faced Heron Kangaroo Island, far NW
c150 birds within vicinity of shorebird roost. Flocks typically large here in winter. Also 6 Golden Plover, one in near full breeding plumage, and a presumeably overwintering Fan-tailed Cuckoo.

Flesh-footed Shearwater Eaglehawk Pelagic
Flesh-footed Shearwater. (1) Review of photos revealed this bird with its distinctive light coloured bill with a dark tip.

Wed 5 Jun White-necked Heron St Helens
One (1) White-necked Heron was observed in paddock on the western side of Binalong Bay Road approximately 1km north of St Helens. Also 1 Freckled Duck still present at Steiglitz Sewerage Ponds. This bird was first observed by Ian May in mid April 2013.
