Fri 12 Apr Azure Kingfisher Detention River Estuary
Single bird fishing 100m north of Bass Hwy up side creek which drains into Detention River. Low tide.

Wed 10 Apr Nankeen Night Heron Bells Parade, Latrobe
Six birds roosting at sundown in canopy of trees at and within 50m of carpark, all along riverbank. Species present here for some years but numbers growing.

Tue 9 Apr Common Greenshank Detention River Estuary (NW)
First palaearctic shorebird seen by me at this frequently-visited site since started Atlassing in 1999.

Mon 8 Apr Grey-tailed Tattler Ralphs Bay Conservation Area, Lauderdale
The Grey-tailed Tattler has been seen again today and yesterday feeding near the canal opening to Ralphs Bay.

1 bird in breeding plumage sharing roost site with Curlew Sandpiper.

Lewin's Rail Cardigan Flats on the Lyell Highway
Single bird clearly observed on the side of the road. Location about 30 km east of Queenstown.

Sat 6 Apr Red Knot Kangaroo Island, NW Tasmania
600+ Red Knots mostly in breeding plumage. These birds were frequently taking flight, wheeling and turning for a minute before settling and then taking wing again. This behavior typically indicates their departure is imminent.
