The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period
Monday, April 1, 2013 to Sunday, April 7, 2013:

Area: SA

Date: Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Location: Rockleigh

Galah (Cacatua roseicapilla) (1)

Thank you to everyone who inquired about our property after the March 26th-27th
bushfire. Luckily the CFS succeeded in stopping the fire from crossing
Rockleigh Road, which is about 2km from our boundary. Had it crossed Rockleigh
Road it we and our neighbours would have been burnt out. Many many thanks to
the CFS.

Tragically the Bushland Conservation property a little further north, which
Birds SA regularly visits, was very badly damaged. Most of the fences and about
70% of the land was completely burnt out. It will be a long time before it
starts to recover and the birds come back. The fire started just north of the
Bushland northern boundary. The fire started about 12 noon on the 26th March
when a sparks from a loader being used to unearth quartz rocks ignited stubble
on an adjacent property, and with the strong gusty winds and hot dry conditions
it travelled about 12km before being stopped.
