Pied Honeyeater
Mannum Waterfall Reserve
Pied Honeyeaters reported yesterday were still there this morning. Hard to count numbers as very active and flighty but at least ten. Managed the attached shot of male and female together by sitting quietly in the shade and hoping they would come to me. Which they did, briefly.

Pied Honeyeater
Mannum Waterfall Reserve
Pied Honeyeater (11) Counted up to eleven adults consisting of both males and females. They were very active and called persistently as they flew from one bush to another. The birds were rather skittish and seldom allowed the observer a close approach. Reasonable photographs were obtained of both sexes. Observers: E Smith and P Strauss

Salvin's Albatross, Long-tailed Jaeger
Port MacDonnell pelagic
Highlights were not so much the birds, but the plethora of other wildlife out to sea. We had many Tuna leaping out of the water & a number of Cetaceans. We had spectacular whales leaping out of the water, which according to great photos from Dan Mantle look like they are Shepherd's Beaked Whale, a really rare find! Also had 1 Humpback Whale & probable Blue Whales. Additionally 3 pods of Common Dolphins going out. Birds were hard to come by, but the highlight was a hungry Salvin's Albatross. Also 1 distant Long-tailed Jaeger; a few Arctic Jaegers on the shelf. 4-5 Buller's Albatross, good numbers of White-faced Storm-petrels & Great-winged Petrel.
