Published sightings for the week ending 10 Feb 2013.

Sat 9 Feb Flesh-footed Shearwater Eaglehawk Pelagic
Flesh-footed Shearwater (2) Sitting on water at 3rd burly point. Clearly photographed. Brown shearwater with narrow pale beak, dark tipped. Possibly could have been 3.
Jeremy O'Wheel

Wed 6 Feb Australian Hobby Acton Park
Not sure if worth posting here as I am only just getting into birdwatching but have not seen one in this area before. Perched in gum tree for about 15 mins near the horse trail off Opus Drive.
David Scaife

Baillon's and Australian Spotted Crakes Goulds Lagoon
Both species were seen on the exposed mud adjacent to the walkway to the hide between 0630 and 0700 this morning.
Keith Reid

Tue 5 Feb Latham's Snipe Smithton
Latham's Snipe (2) Possibly more. Seen at low tide in grass sedges and rocks at end of board walk. (Edited with further info, 6.2.13: Minimum of 25 birds feeding at mid to high tide along river edges, River Foreshore Park in Smithton. Fantiastic views after they flushed but only flew a few metres)
Judith Lattaway

Painted Button-quail Pilcher's Hill Reserve, Gielston Bay
Found numerous "platelets", and after a search of the area, observed a single bird scuttling off. Very dry area of eucalypt regrowth.
Alan Fletcher

Mon 4 Feb Hooded Plover Green Point Beach, Marrawah
Hooded Plover (4) All adults seen at high tide resting with Crested Terns.

Thu 24 Jan Little Tern, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Banded Lapwing, Beautiful Firetail Flinders Island
Trip from 14 - 24 Jan, 73 species. Little Tern on the beaches at Cameron Inlet and Patriarch Inlet (with chick). At West End (Leeka), a Wedge-tailed Eagle adult perched and being circled by a Swamp Harrier which looked tiny by comparison. A juvenile Wedgie at Cameron Inlet was mobbed by a pair of Brown Falcons, one of which struck it in the back. Four Furneaux Islands endemic sub-species (Superb Fairy-wren, Tasmanian Scrubwren, New Holland Honeyeater & Black Currawong) are easily seen. Two adult & 2 young Banded Lapwings at a dam on an arid farm near Ranga. Family of Beautiful Firetails coming to drink at Pats River. Short-tailed Shearwater rookery at Port Davies is not to be missed, first birds nearby at 9.00pm, 70% landed by 9.45pm. Drive home very slowly due to Wallabies, Pademelons and Wombats. Migratory waders seen were Bar-tailed Godwit (North East River), Red-necked Stint (Patriarch Inlet & The Bluff), Ruddy Turnstone (Patriarch Inlet) and Common Greenshank (Lady Barron). White-bellied Sea-Eagles, Caspian Terns, Hooded & Red-capped Plovers on the beaches. Black-faced Cormorants on the rocks. Cape Barren Geese in the paddocks and Wild Turkeys, Common Pheasants & Indian Peafowl on the roadsides.
