Sun 30 Dec Australian Spotted Crake Lake Galletly
The crake was still present this afternoon (a bit distant). Also a nice male Blue-billed Duck and 2 Little Grasbirds.

At least 6 birds this evening in the paddock near the canal (but not near the water due to cattle disturbance). 2 females and others male / imm.

Bird still present at high tide roost today

3-4 birds seen among small flock of White-throated Needletails over Old Cleveland Road. Lots of Needletails seen later over my house in Camp Hill

Blue-billed Duck Kelly's Swamp (Kelly Road, Lockyer Valley)
At least a dozen - a high count in SEQ. Telescope required for accurate count. Rounding off this set of reports from the Lockyer today, the Australian Crake is still showing well at Lake Galletly, which this morning was also hosting 500+ Magpie Geese

5 roosting in culvert on Lake Clarendon Way at midday until flushed into paddock by herd of cows coming to drink!

Australasian Hobby Strong Road, Dayboro
Single bird observed in dead tree behind creek line just before bridge over creek. Have seen a pair of Hobbies on this road previously, also perched in large dead trees.

Fri 28 Dec Black-breasted Button-quail, White-eared Monarch Inskip Point
2 (possibly 3) females and 2 males seen adjacent to the walking trail that runs to the end of the point. White-eared Monarch also in the area.

Mon 24 Dec Beach Thick-knee Cylinder Beach, North Stradbroke Island
Unusual to see a bird this afternoon on this very busy beach. The first I've seen in the Point Lookout area for a while.

Australian Painted Snipe Lake Clarendon
At the risk of boring everyone with painted snipe observations, there was a group of seven today roosting in the drainage channel flowing under Green Swamp Rd near the Lake Clarendon school. This gave me a total of 10 in one day!

1 Black-tailed Native-hen in same spot where I found it 6 weeks ago; 1 Australian Little Bittern, 2 Spotless Crake, 1 Black-necked Stork found dead, apparently shot

Sun 23 Dec Asiatic Dowitcher Port of Brisbane Wader Roost
The Asiatic Dowitcher was still present at the roost, feeding in front of the bird hide adjacent to the car park
