Australasian Shoveler
Alva Wetlands (Private Property)
Australasian Shoveler (1) A rare visitor to freshwater area in North Queensland. One female Australasian Shoveler found in the same area as the recently reported Eastern Yellow Wagtails. From about 1630hrs to 1715hrs this bird was feeding in the company of Pacific Black Ducks and fed mostly with its head submerged. It was on the far side of the lagoon about 70 metres distant from our roadside vantage point (telescope). ID Photo - Len Ezzy.
