Birdline Tasmania

Published sightings for the week ending 9 Dec 2012.

Sun 9 Dec Australian Spotted Crake Goulds Lagoon, Granton
Viewed from start of timber steps on walking track at about 8:00am (same place as Ed Pierce's sighting of a crake two days earlier). I am not an expert on this but, from the number of spots and the fact that the bird had white under its tail, I think this is an Australian Spotted Crake. My thanks to local resident Roger (I think that was his name) for pointing out the bird to me.

Fri 7 Dec Ballion's Crake Goulds Lagoon, Granton
Single bird, viewed from start of timber steps on walking track about 7.30am. I am not familiar with this bird but can't make it anything else from the photos.
Ed Pierce
