Sun 4 Nov Australian Painted Snipe West Belconnen ponds
Australian Painted Snipe (2) Male seen first well camouflaged behind a tussock. Bird stretched its wings then disappeared from view. It was was replaced in scope view and by a female.

Sun 4 Nov Buff-banded Rail Kellys Swamp, Jerrabomberra Wetlands
single bird on waters edge directly below Cygnus hide

Sat 3 Nov Freckled Duck, Yellow-billed Spoonbill West Belconnen ponds
Freckled Duck (1) probable female and Yellow-billed Spoonbill still present. The spoonbill was observed to fly off to the north at 0650.

Australian Painted Snipe (1) Flushed on the northern side of the ponds and flew over the most northern Island.

Wed 31 Oct Musk Duck, Spotted Dove Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve, Gungahlin
Musk Duck (2) on big dam, first I have seen here. Spotted Dove (1) calling near the main gate through the predator-proof fence

A female seen just on dusk.

Tue 30 Oct Whistling Kite, Baillon's Crake, Spotless Crake Kellys Swamp & Jerrabomberra Wetlands, Fyshwick
Whistling Kite (1) Flew over, probably a young bird with rather more mottled looking underparts than an adult. Baillon's Crake (2) seen from Bittern Hide. Spotless Crake (1) in reeds in Jerrabomberra Creek. BT Nativehen and 1 Intermediate Egret also around.

Mon 29 Oct Pied Butcherbird Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve, Gungahlin, ACT
Single adult heard and then seen in the Gecko Hills area in the south of the reserve around 0930 hrs. GPS 35 12' 20'' / 149 11' 23''.

Single male observed flying about suburb calling (as I was running around the suburb orienteering). My first for the season.

A single bird seen from the Bittern hide,also 2 spotless crakes in the same area

Sun 28 Oct Long-billed Corella Campbell Park and environs
Long-billed Corella (2) Pair at tree hollow in large euc 50 metres south of dam in paddock. One bird head down in the hollow and tail in the air. Not sure what the current status of this species is re breeding in the ACT, but the pair were observed at the hollow for a couple of minutes before we moved on, so seemed to be having a serious look at a potential nest site.

Heard 1 Peaceful Dove calling at the lookout.
