Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) (1) A single bird on newly constructed
pond area adjacent to Kessell Road.
Goolwa Ponds and the surrounding area are so full of wates that access is
impossible without thigh waders.

Location: Goolwa Barrage
Red-necked Stint (Calidris ruficollis) (4) Feeding at eastern end of island on
salt water side of Goolwa Barrage.
Curlew Sandpiper (Calidris ferruginea) (8) Same location.
Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Calidris acuminata) (12) Same location
Red-necked Avocet (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) (20) Flock of about 20 Avocet
on back of island, visible from the Barrage. Two birds feeding in channel
between island and road to 19th beacon.
Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus) (12) About 8 birds feeding below the
Barrage, several more out in main channel with one close in to 19th beacon.
Other birds present around the island were Great and Little Egret, about 6
Royal Spoonbill, Australian Pelican, one Greenshank and several Red-kneed
Dotterel.

Location: Zelda Close, Reynella, SA
Eastern Koel (Eudynamys orientalis) (1) As reported earlier by Allan Lees, this
is the 3rd year the Koel has returned to this area at this time of year.This
time I've heard it calling regularly in the early mornings (between 5:30 and
7:30) and the evenings for the last 3 weeks - a longer stay than last year.

Location: Murray Mouth Lookout, Hindmarsh Island.
Red-necked Avocet (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) (50) Flock of approximately
50 birds roosting on submerged sandbar.
Red-necked Stint (Calidris ruficollis) (300) A flock of approximately 500 peeps
between Sugars Beach and the Murray Mouth lookout. About 60% Red-necked Stint,
the rest a mix of Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and Curlew Sandpiper.
Bar-tailed Godwit (Limosa lapponica) (6) With the Avocet and Sandpipers.
Return visit the following morning. Very low water with vast area of mud
exposed and not a wader in sight.

Australasian Gannet (Morus serrator) (2) Two birds feeding around Pullen
Island. One bird had a rich, cinnamon coloured head.
Two Sooty Oystercatcher on rocks on Victor Harbor side of lookout.

Location: The Murray mouth Hindmarsh Island
Grey Plover (Pluvialis squatarola) (1) The single bird still had some black
spotting on the breast.
Fairy Tern (Sterna nereis) (3) The birds were resting with Caspian,Whiskered
and Crested Terns on the channal edge East of the lookout.

paddock at the side of road.
Cape Barren Goose (Cereopsis novaehollandiae) (30) Birds were in the same
paddock as song larks.
